Confessions of Close Reader | Digital Explications

Welcome to our exhibit of digital essays for "The Guilty Mind" @ Georgia Tech, Spring 2020.

The exhibit brings together early entries in our OMEKA collections as students perform critical explications of course readings—of Locke, Defoe, and Hogg—and related objects and images from the eighteenth century. The aim of these explications is to unpack the visual and written rhetoric of key terms like personhood, subjectivity, and self; guilt, conscience, punishment; justice, equality, race, class, gender, labor, and violence.

If you'd like to join the commentary, have suggestions or questions for our student curators, please feel free to comment on the page through this free web annotation application.
